What is Retail Startup Awards?

Retail Startup Awards is an initiative for the startups related to the tech retail area.

The program is promoted by Tlantic and supported by Fábrica de Startups.

What are the objectives of the program?

The main purpose is to enhance the shopping experience. The goal of this program is to explore ideas that will contribute to a better management of the customer relationship and interaction:

 

  • Customer Relationship Management (interaction with client, systems handling analysis and support of purchasing decisions);

  • New business models for physical store;

  • Constant presence of the store with the client in the different phases of the purchase process (decide, go, buy, move, storage, use, keep and maintain);

  • Integration of the client in the retailer’s processes;

  • Use of mobile during store presence (tracking and push notifications).

What does the program provide?

Selected teams will have the opportuniity to present a pitch deck to an audience of investors and other guests.

How long is the program?

The duration of the Retail Startup Awards program is 3 months from July to October.

What type of startups does Retail Startup Awards look for?

We are looking for ideas whose value proposition has the potential to be a game changer in the retailing industry by:

 

  • Contributing to the fusion of the physical and online retailing realities;

  • Being innovative and unique;

  • Having a potentially trend setting idea capable of changing the retailing service and the client’s shopping experience.

The business project must meet a market need in an innovative way and must demonstrate global potential to expand and replicate or scale in larger and growing markets.

What are the selection criteria?

We will take into account the quality of the idea, the team's commitment to the project, evidence of the team's capacity for execution and prototyping, and its profile in terms of complementary skills and enterpreneurial attitude. We will also look into the size of the addressable market, as well as the value the idea brings for the industry and its implementation costs.

Is the program only for Europeans?

The program is open to worldwide startups.

Are there any criteria my team has to fulfill?

Yes, your team should have, at least, one developer.

Will you accept single founders?

No, we do not accept single founders. We believe that strong teams are a necessity for a business' sucess.

Will the Retail Startup Awards program be involved in management decisions of my startup?

We will not interfere with your management decisions. We are only providing you with assistance and counseling, if needed.

What is the Retail Startup Aaward for Game Changers?

The Retail Startup Awards for Game Changers is a pitch competition for tech-retail startups and entrepreneurs. We will have 3 to 5 finalists, chosen to pitch their ideas to world retailers, venture capitalists and investors, industry experts, media, and potential clients in the iconic city of New York.

Included in an annual conference called THE EVERYWHERE STORE, that focuses on the role of the store in the retail ever-changing scenario. Attended by some of the most well-known world retailers and hosted by some of the most prominent business schools, THE EVERYWHERE STORE Conference is designed to inspire, think and share new ways of interpreting the physical store and its role on the consumer’s satisfaction.

The challenge is promoted by Tlantic.

What are the objectives of the challenge?

The main goal of the challenge is to provide the retail industry present at the conference with innovative and disruptive ideas that can improve the physical and virtual shopping experience and retail operations. We look for startups that are disrupting the current models of "store" and that seek to "open" retailers minds to new ways of improving sales.

What does the challenge provide?

Selected teams will have the opportunity to present a pitch deck to an audience of investors and other guests. Also we have a symbolic prize money of 5000€ for the winning startup.

Yes! Your startup should have a disruptive idea that impacts retail operations! Also, you should apply to tes@tlantic.com with the following details:

  • Value proposition in one paragraph*;

  • Powerpoint presentation of the Startup – (you already shared that with us, thank you)*;

  • Video presenting the Startup (in MP4 format)*;

  • Link of startup’s website*;

  • Revenue up to now;

  • Size;

  • Name and Position of the speaker(s) that will attend the conference*.

Is it essential to perform the pitch in New York to receive the investment?

Yes, it is mandatory to perform the acceleration program at our facilities in New York - USA, on the established dates.
